In Berlin the GDR can be experienced in many places. Since GDR history has its very own charm, I have written a travel guide on the traces of the GDR in cooperation with the DDR Museum Berlin. The first quarter of the twenty-first century seems to be defined by an increasing number of people who glorify the glowing halcyon days of yore. I have yet to be convinced. Nostalgia is a yearning for an idealized past, according to the Australian evangelist Alan Hirsch. The key word being idealized.
